Permobil, Sundsvall

Project description
SG lights up Permobil's new headquarters
SG Armaturen has supplied most of the lighting for Permobil's new head office in Sundsvall. Good and close co-operation between supplier, wholesaler, electrical consultant, installer and end customer led to a brilliant result.
During the autumn, Permobil, with its approximately 250 employees, moved into its new headquarters in Birsta, just north of Sundsvall. The customised building of 14,000 square metres contains offices, including research, development, marketing and customer support, as well as production premises. The project has a strong focus on sustainability, from the choice of materials to the energy system, with geothermal heating and solar cells on the roof and charging points in the car park. The property owner is Vectura Fastigheter and the project has been carried out in the form of a partnership with Byggdialog as the construction contractor.
Teknikkonsulterna i Sundsvall (Tekab) came into the project early on.
It started with us drawing up a framework description for a turnkey contract for Sweco. The project was then taken home by Byggdialog, which in turn procured the installer Henningsons El. Henningsons then contacted us to draw up construction documents for power, lighting, security, ducting, data, etc.,’ says Fredrik Jonsson, electrical consultant at Tekab.
Stylish luminaires
For the lighting, Tekab had marked approximate types of luminaires in the different locations. This included many different lighting environments such as offices, industrial areas and warehouses.
‘Henningsons El wanted the luminaires to be attractive and reasonably priced, and we wanted to create a modern office environment with a lounge feel. We have used luminaires from SG before in many projects and are happy with them and their products. It has a wide range and delivers good quality at a reasonable cost in a timely manner,’ says Fredrik Jonsson.
LEED-certified
The building is LEED certified, which means high demands on climate-smart solutions with a minimal carbon footprint.
‘Because it is a LEED building, there were fewer lighting suppliers to choose from, but SG Armaturen met the stringent requirements,’ says Daniel Englin, project manager at Henningsons El.
At SG Armaturen, salesman Mikael Sörholm was contacted by Tekab at the start of the project.
‘We have a great relationship and they often use our products in their projects. We had several meetings where we went through the requirements, Tekab made light calculations and together we then developed a proposal for suitable luminaires,’ says Mikael Sörholm.
Securing deliveries.
As it was a large project and many luminaires were to be delivered in a relatively short time, it was important to secure the deliveries in the best possible way.
We had a dialogue with Henningsons El when they got the job to see if we could be involved in quoting for the entire project, and that's how it happened, and we eventually got the opportunity to deliver everything,’ says Mathias Andersson, Internal Sales Manager Lighting at Ahlsell.
Henningsons El had good foresight and together with Ahlsell they were able to plan the project well in advance.
‘We offered to purchase the required lighting fixtures and stock them at our central warehouse in Hallsberg. Some luminaires had long delivery times and we wanted to secure everything in time to guarantee that we could deliver the day after the call-off from Henningsons El,’ says Mathias.
Lighting solution
Most lighting from SG
Most of the lighting at Permobil is from SG Armaturen and is used in all spaces, both indoors and outdoors.
Among the luminaires we have supplied is Infinity, a stylish and effective light strip ramp that can be jacked together and expanded as needed. In total, we have delivered 522 units or 585 metres of Infinty. Our Arena luminaire is installed in all work areas and in the warehouse, totalling 668 units, and our Junistar Lux downlight is installed in the suspended ceiling, 136 units. In addition, there are just over 100 60x60 tiles placed in suspended ceilings. These are just a few examples of the luminaires we have supplied to Permobil,’ says Mikael Sörholm.
It turned out very nice with the Infinity pendant in the office. A stylish design lighting that provides pleasant light and also fulfils the strict LEED requirements. ‘It's nice to have a different solution, as office environments often only use LED panels,’ says Daniel Englin and continues:
‘It's been a really fun and exciting project, but at the same time the installation time has been extremely short, so at times it's been a bit sweaty to keep up. However, we are satisfied with the end result, which was good, thanks to the good cooperation we had with everyone involved.
