Östermalm in Stockholm is home to many fine and historic buildings with magnificent floors. One of these has been carefully renovated and equipped with the latest technology from SG. They have chosen dimmers and switches from the SG Install range, as well as spotlights and downlights from SG Armaturen. All the lighting on the floor is controlled easily and conveniently using the SG Smart control system.

The building is one of the few that is ‘blue-classified’ by the City Museum in Stockholm. This means that the property is considered to have ‘particularly high cultural-historical values’. The floor consists of five rooms, is about 170 square metres and is located at the top of the building. The view is fantastic over the rooftops of Östermalm and also over Djurgården. Stucco ceilings and magnificent pillars at the entrance to the living room are just some of the many fine details of this exquisite floor.

Renovated for eight months

When the new owner took over, an eight-month-long renovation of the entire floor was started, with everything replaced. New floors, new finishes on walls and ceilings, new electricity, new appliances, etc. While it was a complete renovation, they also wanted to proceed carefully and retain the typical features of the period without sacrificing modern technology of the highest quality. After going through the wishes they had with an electrical consultant, an evaluation was made of what was on the market and which brands and models would meet the high demands on design and function.

Lighting is important

Lighting is an important part of the home, it should not only provide functional light but also be able to provide different moods depending on whether it is morning, evening, work, dinner, party or relaxation. The requirements for the lighting were that it should be easy to control, with the possibility of setting different scenarios for different occasions, and that the lighting fixtures should be nicely designed. After looking at different brands, the choice fell on using products from SG. The revolutionary connection technology with quick release clamps means fast and efficient installation.

• SG Install is an innovative product programme with smart solutions. The quick connection eliminates the need for screwing, just fold down the quick clamp and it's connected. It's also difficult to make a mistake, because if you forget to fold down the quick-release clip, you can't put the lid back on. Another advantage is that they are rotary dimmers, which are easier for the user to operate than touch dimmers.

Lighting fixtures for all needs

SG luminaires have also been used in the Östermalm apartment, Zip Tube Mini 1-phase has been installed in the laundry room and Junistar Lux Isosafe is used in the kitchen, TV room, office, corridor, bathroom and toilet.
