Magasinet Mobility Centre

Project description

Mobilitetshuset Magasinet is a newly built multi-storey car park with a high level of ambition in its implementation and great emphasis on architecture. The result, with an exciting façade combined with decorative lighting, makes the building stand out in an elegant way. SG Armaturen was entrusted with supplying all the lighting for both the exterior and interior.

The building is located near Gävle Central Station and consists of six floors totalling 14,000 square metres. It also has around 400 car parking spaces. SG has been in contact with Christoffer Eliasson, project manager at Bravida, through salesman Peter Malm and lighting designer Anne-Lie Svalborg throughout the project process.

Lighting solution

Anne-Lie Svalborg made a complete proposal with luminaire selection, lighting calculations and 3D visualisations. ‘Inside the garage, I suggested our Area 66 luminaire, which is often used in car parks. It is an enclosed and impact-resistant LED luminaire, with an IP rating of 66 and jumper cables. In other words, it is very robust and perfect for garage environments. The Jupiter Pro recessed downlight was chosen for the exterior street level and the Disc luminaire for the stairwells,’ says Anne-Lie Svalborg.

The project has a high level of architectural ambition as it was built in the cultural-historical warehouse area in Gävle and the building is characterised by a façade clad with wooden ribs, with elements of brick, glass sections and metal mesh. ‘I wanted the beautiful facade to be visible and therefore chose to propose our Wax spotlight, to be mounted on top of the building with the task of illuminating the facade downwards,’ says Anne-Lie. In total, we installed just over 450 of the Area 66 luminaires on the various garage levels. We mounted the luminaires on tension cables and it was quick, just cable in on one side and out on the other, says Christoffer Eliasson at Bravida.

The general lighting in the garage has DALI control, where external KNX sensors switch on the luminaires to 100 per cent only when someone approaches, an energy-efficient solution. The installation work was completed last winter and the Magasinet Mobility Centre is now fully operational. ‘Both we and our client are very pleased with the lighting. It turned out incredibly well with the Wax spotlight, which illuminates and enlivens the attractive facade. The collaboration with SG Armaturen has worked extremely well throughout the project, from lighting calculations to delivery. They are a stable supplier that we are happy to continue working with,’ says Christoffer.
