Aarhus Universitetshospital

Project description

Aarhus University Hospital, AUH, is one of Denmark’s most modern hospitals. The oldest buildings have been in use since the late 1980s, and with daily, intensive use, these installations are now in need of repair. Their energy features no longer comply with today’s standards.

Accordingly, almost 3000 luminaires in wards, meeting rooms, kitchens, storage rooms and toilets, etc., had to be replaced. “This was arranged according to a carefully coordinated plan, where the top priority was to interfere with hospital activities as little as possible,” explains Ina Rødtnes Withus, engineer and project manager at AUH.

Lighting solution

At the center of AUH’s lighting renovation is the Multi Concept system luminaire by SG Armaturen. Its modular structure allows for easy adaptation to different applications and architectural environments. With 1,100 motion detectors, the lights are only switched on where needed.

Planning, flexibility and goodwill made it possible to renovate Aarhus University Hospital’s lighting system while patient care continued uninterrupted.

One of the challenges of working on major projects in a busy hospital environment is the logistics. There was no room to store the many luminaires required, so Rigtigt Lys and SG Armaturen continuously coordinated delivery for the relevant stages of the renovation project. Moreover, the luminaires economise on packaging to reduce waste.
